Dr. Pravin Patel was born in Ndola, Zambia and moved to Toronto to further his education. He completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontario and then studied dentistry at the University of Toronto. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1982. During this time, he returned to Zambia as a volunteer to teach English at a local high school. After graduating from U of T, Dr. Patel opened his private practice at Highway 27 and Humber College Blvd.
Dr. Patel is a member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, the Ontario Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He’s also the continuing education director for the South Asian Dental Association and has organized several continuing education courses.
Outside work, Dr. Patel is active in several community organizations, including the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Centre for Conscious Awareness. He’s the past president of the Federation of Gujarati Associations and the Building Committee Chairperson for the Gujarati Community Centre (now the Hindu Mandir and Cultural Centre). He’s also involved in many fundraising activities for local religious organizations. Dr. Patel is interested in and teaches Arka Dhyana Meditation.
