In 1993, Dr. Robert Reid left another practice in town and opened Collingwood Dental Centre at 60 Hume Street. Judy Manchester was the hygienist, his mom and his wife Kathy worked at the front desk.
His youngest son Stuart and Judy’s son Malcolm, were often trapped in a gated unequipped operatory in the back as they ran a makeshift daycare some mornings. It was fun and exciting, those early days. Lots have changed since then.
The practice and Collingwood have both grown and so has his family. Three of our four children live in Collingwood and Kathy and Dr. Reid have 6 grandsons so far. Their furthest daughter lives in Barrie. His parents still live in Collingwood.
Dr. Reid has enjoyed many years as a member of the Collingwood Rotary Club.
Over the years the practice has tried to acquire technology to compliment their services. They can make one-visit crowns, they have lasers to help with periodontal treatment and they have scanners that they often use instead of traditional impressions.
Dr. Reid still really likes dentistry, seeing patients and doing those little tiny things that dentists do, but, he is narrowing his scope.
Invisalign is a treatment that can move teeth without having to rely on traditional braces. He is going to spend the majority of his time doing only these types of cases. Dr. Rogers will be seeing most of Dr. Reid’s patients for their “regular” dentistry, though if a person wanted to, they could see Dr. Mohammed or Dr. Zain (The Saigar Brothers).
Dr. Reid hopes that you will let Collingwood Dental Centre continue to care for you and your families. He is not going anywhere. He will still be there most days and if there is anything he can do to help, he will strive to do so.
Dr. Reid plans to be semi-retired for many years. Dentistry, and helping patients, has been part of his life for a long time. The profession, and the patients of Collingwood Dental Centre will continue to be a personal cornerstone for many years to come.
